Thoughts

I felt the need to write, and so here I am. You know that feeling you get of inspiration? It is a wonderful thing. It could be anything; something someone says, a movie, a song...nature. But, whatever it is...it causes you to act; to create, to do something, write something. It is in these moments that we feel alive. It is a great feeling. It just so happens that I was watching "The Black List: Volume Two" on HBO, when I felt inspired. Pastor T.D. Jakes was talking about the sense of satisfaction he gets from knowing what he was created to do; in his case: be a Pastor. Jakes said that knowing and doing what you were created to do makes you feel as if God Himself has blown life into your body and being. For me, writing gives me that feeling. There's just something about stringing a sentence together; (a compilation of words) that moves me. You know, we live in this crazy world. And even now with the economy in shambles, people pick sides and just argue it out. It's all talking heads, partisanship, politics, games. How rare it is that people truly sacrifice for the greater good and compromise and try and work it out. Glenn Beck rants and raves and so does Keith Olbermann, but what do the blowhards accomplish with all of that hot air? Does anyone even really care about the solutions? Where is the sincerity? I'm not saying there isn't a place for sarcasm or satire, but when that's all you do, something has gone terribly wrong. You know, it's sad that Barack Obama has so far acted as a typical politician. For all the campaign talk of change we can believe in and hope and the new kind of politics, it so far is looking like more of the same. It would have been great for him and the country if he would have worked with John McCain on the stimulus package. That would have really set the right tone from the beginning of his administration. Instead, he outsourced it to Nancy Pelosi, and partisanship has followed ever since in Washington, and across the airwaves. And now the new budget is packed with earmarks. It just never ends. The only thing that has changed is which party is in power. I don't know what the future has in store, but I hope that the people who are in positions of power and influence begin to conduct themselves in a manner that is worthy of their positions. Otherwise, things will only get worse.
